Tourism in Algeria: Potential, Reality and Prospects in Light of the Trend Towards Economic Diversification Policy

Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the most important sectors relied upon to drive economic growth, due to its clear impact and contribution to the GDP and the improvement of the balance of payments resulting from tourism revenues and its interconnected relationship with many other economic sectors such as hotels, transportation, and services. Algeria is one of the countries rich in natural, cultural, historical, and other immense and diverse tourism potentials that can contribute to supporting comprehensive economic, social, and cultural development in the country.

This study will attempt to address the current state of tourism in Algeria and the sector's prospects within the framework of the economic diversification policy.
