Family Transformations in the Digital Age
Roles, Values, and Communication Patterns

Abstract
The journal announces a call for contributions to a special issue dedicated to examining the profound transformations the family is undergoing in the digital age, in light of the widespread adoption of communication technologies and the integration of digital media into daily life.
This issue aims to analyze the impact of digital transformations on family structure, the redistribution of roles within it, the shift in family value systems, and communication patterns among its members, through sociological, anthropological, psychological, and communicative approaches.
It also seeks to understand how the digital environment has reshaped relationships between spouses, between parents and children, and between different generations, along with the accompanying tensions, negotiations, and adaptation strategies, navigating the tensions between continuity and transformation.

Issue Theme
Historically, the family has been the fundamental unit for socialization, the transmission of values, and the construction of individual and collective identity. However, rapid digital transformations have ushered the family into a new communicative space, reshaping relationships within it and altering patterns of daily interaction among its members.
Digital media have become a powerful presence in family life, influencing the distribution of roles, the boundaries of parental authority, and patterns of control and supervision. It has also generated new forms of closeness and distance within the family unit.
This transformation raises fundamental questions about the future of family values, the limits of privacy, the impact of screens on socialization, emotional communication, and intergenerational relationships, as well as the redefinition of concepts of responsibility, care, and belonging within the contemporary family. This special issue examines these transformations through theoretical and field studies that seek to deconstruct the dynamics of the family in the digital age and understand its social and cultural stakes.
