Importance and features of a well-organized paragraph in English

Abstract

     A paragraph is a very important means to convey written information and excahnge learning efficiently. This study aims to show the importance of a paragraph in conveying information and messages of the written text by showing parts of a good written paragraph in addition to its essential features. Two written texts have been analyzed to show the features and importance of a good written paragraph. Findings from the analysis of the texts showed that a well-organized paragraph is supposed to have à topic sentence, supporting ideas, and a conclusion to ensure smooth transitions among sentences of the paragraph. In addition, characteristics of coherence, cohesion, and unity have to be included in writing a good paragraph.
