Abstract

The novel (Blood of Hussein) by Ibrahim Issa employs the Al-Taf incident, which is also called the Karbala incident, as a main theme of the narrative text in the body of the study. Despite the dominance of the textuality of history over the course of the narrative, we find the writer was able to cross it to the edges of the history of the text, and we want the text to maintain its boundaries. Race, even if it is overshadowed by the historical game, and we do not say the formula; Because the writer intentionally wanted it to be a game and not a formula for an artistic goal, and here the novelist has employed the historical text in the service of the fictional text and not the other way around. The novel does not chronicle the historical event as much as it employs history in serving the course of the narrative event. Despite the dominance of the historical event over the novel, it remains within the orbit or framework of the narrative, not the historical novel. Because of the clarity of the creator’s purpose in evoking this historical incident and no other. This study, entitled “The Novel (Blood of Hussein) read in the Light of New Historicism,” aims to clarify the interpretive reading and questions that are left unanswered in the novel’s narratives and how to employ the historical event in building the plot of the novel. The research was based on several axes that dealt with the concept of new historicism and what is related to its features, as well as the historicity of the novel. , And the mechanisms of producing narrative meaning from the historical document, as well as the psychological-ideological conflicts and the imagined format in which the main theme of the novel was revealed despite its small written space.

The study reached results, the most important of which are: the writer’s awareness of the importance of the historical event in constructing the narrative text The prevalence of psychological and ideological conflict over the characters of the main novel, and the designation of the narrative genre to naturalize this novel, in addition to the storyteller’s attempt not to surrender to the historical event as it is, but on the contrary, he seeks to discuss and refute it on many occasions.
