Abstract

This study examines the role of social media in enhancing brand engagement through a qualitative analysis of contemporary marketing strategies and digital communication practices. Drawing on thematic analysis of publicly available content from globally recognized brands principally Nike and Coca-Cola across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, the research investigates how organizations leverage emotional storytelling, interactive content, influencer marketing, personalization, and platform-specific communication to build meaningful consumer relationships. A desk-based qualitative research design was employed, systematically analyzing brand communication practices and audience interaction patterns. Findings reveal that emotional storytelling and user-generated content are primary drivers of emotional and behavioral engagement; influencer credibility and authenticity significantly determine trust and participation; personalized campaigns foster emotional connection and wider audience involvement; and platform-specific strategies are indispensable given the distinct audience behaviors and algorithmic logics of each platform. The study also identifies persistent challenges including content saturation, algorithm volatility, and the management of authenticity under commercial pressure. Theoretically, the findings validate and extend consumer engagement theory, relationship marketing theory, and social exchange theory within digital contexts. Practically, the study provides actionable guidance for marketers seeking to design more effective, authentic, and consumer-centered social media strategies in competitive digital markets.
