The Role of Intellectual Integration in Building the Foundations of International Law to Address Global Challenges

Abstract

This research examines the role of intellectual integration in the development of international law rules to address contemporary global challenges that have surpassed the traditional framework governing relations among states. It argues that the rapid transformations in the international system and the emergence of transboundary risks have necessitated the adoption of legal approaches based on interaction and integration among diverse legal thoughts and systems. The study also highlights the conceptual and theoretical foundations of intellectual integration and its contribution to strengthening the collective and human-centered character of international law. The research concludes that intellectual integration constitutes an effective mechanism for enhancing the effectiveness of international legal rules by harmonizing legal concepts, overcoming intellectual divisions, and developing more flexible and comprehensive norms that reflect the interests of the international community as a whole. Nevertheless, it emphasizes that intellectual integration faces practical and legal limitations, particularly conflicts of interests among states and disparities in intellectual influence, which call for strengthening international legal dialogue and developing more balanced mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of intellectual integration in confronting future global challenges.
