This research examines the crime of extortion via educational platforms as a form of emerging digital crime linked to the digital transformation of the educational process. It addresses the legal nature of this criminal behavior as a form of psychological coercion based on the exploitation of private educational data and information to pressure the victim's will for the purpose of achieving an illicit gain. The research also examines the legal elements of extortion in the digital educational environment, highlighting the specific nature of the criminal behavior, the criminal outcome, and the causal link. It analyzes the position of Iraqi jurisprudence and the judiciary in applying general criminal provisions to this type of crime. The research concludes with the necessity of strengthening the criminal protection of educational data, whether through a disciplined judicial interpretation of existing legal texts or through specific legislative intervention that addresses the unique characteristics of the digital educational environment and upholds the principle of legality in criminal law.
