The idea of guidance and its relation to the question of development In the thought of Ahmed Aroua

Abstract

   The question of renaissance occupies a central place in the works of our intellectuals since the beginning of the Arab Renaissance era (with Napoleon's Egyptian Campaign). The ways to answer this question have varied among the pioneers of Arab thot currents up to this day, whether the proponents of these answers are Salafists, liberals, secularists, or conciliators. This difference is due to the background and premises of each current. Despite this, the question of renaissance continues to renew itself almost every decade without a clear answer and without finding a solution to the predicament of civilisational backwardness that the Arab Islamic world is experiencing.

In this article, we will highlight the key features of Dr. Ahmad Aroua 's intellectual vision, thru which he addressed the question of renaissance from an intellectual perspective based on the centrality of the idea of guidance. Relying on an inductive analysis method to delve into the nuances of his vision, which he emphasized by saying: "Today, we need a genuine mobilization of all the hidden vital energies in our country, but this mobilization cannot bear fruit without clarity, enthusiasm, and faith, that is, without a sincere public will directed toward construction and creation."
