Abstract

This study examines the role of Brazil in Portuguese foreign policy between 1976 and 2007, within the context of Portugal’s democratic transition and the redefinition of its external priorities in the post-colonial era. It analyzes the evolution of bilateral relations in their political, economic, and cultural dimensions, particularly following Portugal’s accession to the European Communities and the growth of Portuguese investment in Brazil. The study highlights how historical and linguistic ties played a central role in strengthening a strategic partnership between the two countries, despite occasional challenges related to migration and economic fluctuations.
