The social dimension in the educational thought of Avicenna: A sociological study on the impact of education on building society.

Abstract

The research aims to highlight Ibn Sina's educational thought as a valuable historical, philosophical, and social source that reflects the connection between education and society, as well as to study the balanced relationship between the mind and the body, and between morals and knowledge according to Ibn Sina. The research also focuses on the role of the teacher as a moral and educational role model responsible for the comprehensive guidance of the individual or the community. In light of this importance, the research aims to study and analyze Ibn Sina's educational principles from a sociological perspective, in addition to clarifying the positive relationship between education and social structure in Ibn Sina's thought. Consequently, the research relies on analytical, descriptive, inductive, and historical methods to articulate Ibn Sina's educational and intellectual principles and their applications to enhance social cohesion. Moreover, the research concludes with a number of findings, including that Ibn Sina's educational thought is characterized by comprehensiveness, as it not only focuses on the transmission of knowledge but also emphasizes the integration of positive relationships between the mind, body, and morals as complementary models for human or student development.
