The Arab Spring and its impact on Türkiye's international status (2011-2020 Syria as a model)

Abstract

Given the geographical and historical connection between Arabs and Turks, Turkey certainly cannot be unconcerned with what is happening or will happen in the Arab region. The course of Turkish-Arab relations during the period prior to 2010 witnessed a very important development in the economic and political fields, until Turkey became a partner of the Arabs, whether it was due to a purely internal Turkish motive or an Arab motive, or an external motive from the United States in making Turkey a reliable and important ally of the United States in terms of its contribution and playing an effective role in the Arab region. Therefore, the Turkish government took a position in support of the Arab Spring, hoping that democratic change would occur in the Arab region and promote economic prosperity that might enhance Turkey's political and economic position and work to increase its influence in the region. In addition, Turkey was seeking to benefit from Arab relations in general to play its regional and international role that might enhance its position in the international pyramid.
