Variation in demographic characteristics of the population of Wasit Governorate

Abstract

The research aims to study the cartographic representation of the variation in population characteristics in Wasit Governorate during the period (2013-2022) and the changes that occurred in population growth in the governorate. The research topic is one of the important topics in development, as such studies have a great impact on the development process of each society in which humans represent a goal and a means. The research provides a clear picture of the population by knowing the characteristics of population growth and its components and stating the gender and age structure of the male and female population at the level of administrative units of Wasit Governorate and knowing the population density and analyzing the centers of gravity, and that the best way to represent it is by projecting data related to the population according to their areas of presence on the map in order to reveal spatial differences. One of the most prominent findings of the research is that the largest number of residents is concentrated in the center of Kut District, and that the growth rate for Wasit Governorate reached (1.88%), and the highest growth rates were recorded in both Kut and Al-Hay, as they reached (2.32)% for each of them, while the lowest The growth rates recorded by Al-Shahimiya amounted to (1.54%).
